15.3. Power failure check on a wire connecting the storage battery to the generator (V6 engine)

This check allows to define reliability of connection of the plug "B" of the generator with the positive plug of the storage battery.

Preparation for check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Include ignition.

For definition of an abnormal condition of the socket, do not check at the same time two sockets.


2. Connect the digital voltmeter to the plug "B" of the generator and to the positive plug of the storage battery. Connect positive (+) a voltmeter wire to the plug "B", and negative (-) to the storage battery.

Check condition

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Start the engine.
2. Include headlights, the fan of a heater and other consumers of electric energy and read indications on the voltmeter.

Result of check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The voltmeter should show tension of 0,2 Century.
2. If tension more than 0,2 In, means, the wire has damages or it is unreliably connected to plugs of the generator and the storage battery.

  • For check of a wire connect the plug "B" and the positive plug of the storage battery an additional wire to a fusible insert.
  • Check reliability of connection of a wire to plugs, and also be convinced that isolation of a wire is not melted from its overheat.

3. In summary transfer the engine to an idling operating mode. Switch off everything consumers of electric energy and stop the engine.
