5.4. Control lamp of malfunctions (MIL)The control lamp of MIL lights up in the presence of malfunctions in a control system of the engine. However the lamp of MIL will not light up after three starts of the engine if the malfunction fixed earlier does not appear any more. After ignition inclusion (before engine start) the control lamp burns within 5 seconds that points to normal work of system of diagnostics of malfunctions.

Self-diagnostics
The ESM block constantly supervises entrance and target signals and other signals under certain conditions. At failure detection the ESM block writes down a diagnostic code of malfunction in memory and provides a code exit to the diagnostic socket. It is possible to consider diagnostic codes by means of the scanner. Diagnostic codes remain in memory to a detachment of wires from plugs of the storage battery or a socket detachment from the ESM block, and also before their deleting by means of the scanner.

If tension of the battery low, it is impossible to consider diagnostic codes of malfunctions. Before reading of codes be convinced that the storage battery is charged.
At a detachment of wires from plugs of the storage battery or the socket from the control unit the engine erases from the memory, the diagnostic codes of malfunctions written down in it. Before removal or replacement of any element of system consider codes of malfunctions then disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the storage battery.

1. Switch off ignition. 2. To connect the scanner to the diagnostic socket. 3. Include ignition. 4. Using the scanner, check existence of the written-down codes of malfunctions. 5. Eliminate malfunction. 6. Erase a diagnostic code of malfunction.
